On Thursday the infamous little store in the West End which was once the Comme Des Garcons Guerilla store, rebranded themselves as W2 and introduced their new menswear collection.
I attended the launch last week along with my fellow TF blogger: Street Style Photographer Elizabeth Lebaron to see what they had instore (quite literally)!
W2 is owned by David Mullane who is credited in the fashion industry for his work as the Merchandise Director at The Warehouse, Glassford Street, Glasgow: An Iconic Glasgow Style building where until the mid 90s was where the leading names in fashion designed were gathered.
The store does still stock the fantastic Comme Des Garcons but now also plays host to some amazing new lines from Margaret Howell and Adam Kimmel, as well as Comme Des Garcons Fragrance and Comme Des Garcons Play – Casual Street Wear for Male and Females alike.
This eponymous brand is quintessentially English with its luxury tweeds, twills and poplins yet the beautiful fabrics and high manufacturing quality seems more like yesteryear-UK than what we find on our high streets today. For 30 years Margaret Howell has expressed her love of simplicity and quality in fine clothes, which could be called the antithesis of fashion. It’s hardly surprising that 85% of her turnover comes from Japan.
Introducing Adam Kimmel:
It was in 2003, at the age of 23, that Adam forsook his architecture studies to focus on his debut menswear collection. He is a native New Yorker and much of the city’s artistic energy is evident in his work. His starting point for influence was the 1950s post-war creativity of artists like Willem de Kooning. Stockists include Collette in Paris, Bergdorf Goodman New York, 10 Corso Como in Milan and Dover Street Market in London and W2.
Speaking to Joey Villemont and Camille Le Houezec who designed the window display, they told us that they were deeply inspired by the latest CDG Fragrance ‘Wonderwood’ which became the basis for the display. The wood was collected nearby in Glasgow Green and strategically placed in the display to create such a dynamic feature in the window.

Lara Bohinc is a lady who certainly knows how to make a splash! Stepping out from jewelery designer last year to shoe designer got me more than a little excited. Now with the launch of her second season in Harvey Nicholas I am practically delirious with excitement and counting my penny’s as we speak!
Not only is the lady herself insatiable but also is her jewellery and her current love shoes. Stating that designing shoes for her is remarkably much easier than designing a bag or her first love jewellery as ” you are limited by the shape of the foot, jewellery on the other hand has the least limitations and is therefore more similar to sculpture”. Yeah if you say so Lara! Being an average joe myself I can barely draw stick man let alone make a stick man! However I am not lara Bohinc!
Bohinc’s jewellery is utterly original with combining juxtaposing features such as metal and shells, leather combined with perspex . She once designed a Braille choker with inverted lettering so that people who were blind couldn’t read it, and silver headphones that you place over yours which one however cannot hear through!
Thus her shoes did not disappoint. Combining chain mail and platforms, inspired very much by armour! Bohinc goes on to say that her designs are lightweight and easy to wear and are of the comfortable couture category. For me these shoes certainly are designed to make women off all shapes and forms to feel powerful, influential and elegant. So If one wants to feel powerful buy a pair , if one want to feel desirable buy a pair, and if one wants to feel unique, and be the envy of all say it with me …buy a pair!

Autumn is here and there is no better time to get into a snug pair of boots. Ugg Australia took the fashion world by storm a few years ago offering shoe-lovers both comfortable and stylish footwear. Since then, the brand has given us a similar collection of footwear each season, a range of boots and shoes differing in style and colour.
The time had come for a new style to inject some freshness into the Ugg brand. And here we have it, luxury shoe designer Jimmy Choo has collaborated with Ugg to create a very special collection. The Jimmy Choo Ugg range will offer us some beautiful and unique pieces with studs and embellishment to add something fancy to the boot. Unfortunately, we can expect a higher price tag but they will certainly be worth it for their beauty and exclusivity.
