Glamorous Glasgow to host first ever Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards
Glasgow event to showcase the talent in the Hair and Beauty Industry across Scotland will be the first of its kind
This year, the city of Glasgow will play host to an event that highlights the talents in the thriving Hair and Beauty industry, the first ever Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards 2011. With the UK hair and beauty sector being a multi-billion industry, it appears the time is right to recognize Scotland’s huge contribution to it. The Scottish hair industry alone has around 3,500 businesses that have a combined massive annual turnover of £500 million.
The anticipated debut event will provide a platform to acknowledge hair stylists, salons and beauticians all across Scotland in an evening of glamour and glitz and it seems Glasgow was the first choice for location. Even style guru and television personality Gok Wan heralded the fashion and flair of the Glaswegian people during his visit in 2010.
Creative Oceanic, a Glasgow based Brand Communications Company will be coordinating the innovative event to be held in Scotland’s largest city. Angie Bennett, Head of Communications for the Oceanic Group said “Glasgow is such a stylish and cutting edge city – people really make a big effort to look good – you just need to check out the style in town on a Saturday night, The Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards 2011 are definitely going to be the event of 2011!”
The event which will be taking place on 16th June 2011 at the Marriot Hotel Glasgow promises to be as glamorous as the individuals and salons it’s acknowledging. Angie went on to add: “‘Bonnie Scotland’ as it’s endearingly known throughout the world seems to have earned its global nickname over the years. Not only famed for its beautiful, rugged landscapes, it has also grown a solid reputation for its beautiful people and booming hair and beauty industry that has launched the careers of internationally recognised stylists such as Trevor Sorbie and Paul Mitchell. Our Bonnie lasses have even been crowned with the Miss UK title 7 times out of a possible 10 in the last decade.”
Nominations for the event will open on 1st March 2011 and will close on 31st May 2011.
Patrons are being asked to nominate their favourite hairstylists and beauticians across Scotland in the following categories:

Its always a exciting opportunity for TellusFashion to be invited along to fashion shows, but its even better when the fashion show is filled with emerging designers. This Thursday, the fashion school at Glasgow Caledonian University will be hosting their yearly fashion show which showcases the final projects from its 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students.
Last week I met with three designers to be featured in the show and I was extremely impressed by the sheer quality and imagination evident in their work. I can’t wait to see the full show and what the other designers have on offer.
This year the fourth year students were set a challenge to create a ‘cowboy couture’ styled kilt and excitingly 2 of these pieces were chosen to be featured in New York Fashion week’s Dressed to Kilt show (http://living.stv.tv/fashion/250779-dressed-to-kilt-fashion-students-bring-new-york-style-to-scotland)… needless to say the competition was high so I can’t wait to see them all on the runway!
If you’re free this Thursday and in and around Glasgow then definitely come along for what is promising to be a fantastic night

At dinner time, we usually sit around the table and ask family members to pass the peas or the stuffing. Tellusfashion has discovered that instead of eating three square meals a day, now you can wear it on your finger. Canadian born jewellery designer Sofia is the brainchild behind SouZouCreations based in Japan where she has been living for 13 years with her husband. She has made these amazing miniature food rings which are made out of many different types of plastic, glass and mental and finished off with an adjustable band. The rings are made with attention to detail and creativity. There are various dishes to choose from and are also suitable for vegetarians such as a plate with bamboo shoots, carrots shaped like Japanese maple leaves and rice balls. If you feel like having an American-style breakfast opt for a floating pancake ring drowned in golden maple syrup with eggs and bacon as a side order. Curl up on the sofa with a nice cup of hot chocolate with cream and a jelly cookie or with a frozen ice cream sundae treat. The prices won’t pinch your purse and there are plenty of designs to choose from at her online store http://www.etsy.com/shop/SouZouCreations .
