Hey my tellusfashion junkies, I’m back again for another week with all the fashion gossip.
This week John Galliano was found guilty in Paris!!!!
John Galliano had his day in court this week, where a correctional court in Paris, gave the verdict on the none present designer. Which of course came back as “Guilty”, for uttering racist and anti-Semitic comments in a Paris cafe.
The court handed down a total fine of €17,500, which includes €4,000 for February’s alcohol-fueled, anti-Semitic rant in a café that cost him his job as creative director at Dior, and €2,000 for a similar outburst last October. The ruling fell far shy of the maximum fine possible. The designer will also pay over €5,000 in legal fees and a symbolic euro in damages to each plaintiff and to five anti-racist organizations that had brought a civil suit.
As expected, Galliano will serve no prison time. In its comments, the court noted that despite his triple addiction (alcohol, sleeping pills, Valium), Mr Galliano was lucid enough to be conscious of his acts. That the designer had become “a ghost of himself,” and the loss of his iconic status was punishment enough, noted the lawyer for Geraldine Bloch, one of the plaintiffs.
With the trial closed, an announcement is expected from Dior shortly about Galliano’s successor.

Rihanna’s new fragrance, Reb’l Fleur has been described as “an intense and daring fruity chypre, composed of sophisticated floral notes: tuberose, violet and hibiscus, – with a splash of coconut water, – over the light and smooth base, the combination of the final notes evokes the impression of warm skin. The perfume was created by Caroline Sabas and Marypierre Julien of Givaudan.

Looking at the outfit that she wore for the launch some would say she looked more like the monster from Disney’s Monsters Inc, instead of the normal fashionista we all love. It only goes to show, that even the best can also get it wrong.
David Beckham For H&M
From next year February, H&M will carry a men’s bodywear range designed by LA Galaxy and footballer David Beckham.
This isn’t the usual collaborations we’ve come to expect from H&M, instead it will be a long-term distribution partnership, that will be launched on February 2 2012 worldwide, in time for Valentine’s Day.
Beckham has since made a comment that choosing H&M to retail the new underwear was “the final piece in a jigsaw” of developing the range. “In H&M we have found the perfect partner to collaborate with going forward”.
Beckham was previously the face of Armani, where his four year stint as the face of its underwear line saw the designer label’s turnover double.
This is something we hope to see in H&M’s annual turnover after its launch.
As with past collaborations, such as last novembers Lanvin range which sold out within hours, after fans camped outside the high street chain for hours just to be the first to grab an outfit.

For those of us in England of course there’s London Fashion week to look forward to. I myself can’t wait, I’ve been trying to sort out a Burberry placement during that week as I think they do the best shows.
Though With my schedule it’s gonna be a bit crazy but will have to see, as I still need to arrange time off work.
Will let you know of any good events in London leading up to fashion week.
See yah’ll next week!
Hey my fashion junkies! I went to the Pure London fashion buying event with our resident fashion editor Olivia Pinnock. It was lovely meeting her and attending the event but to be honest I was a bit disappointed, I was looking forward to being wowed by the designers this being my first buying event.
Not to knock it completely I did meet the new Miss England 2011 who was there to promote one of her sponsors, Zeleb London owned by a Malaysian designer based here in the UK.
Regardless here are my top 3 designers I feel really did it for me at the event.
Aurea Prates Brazil based designer.
D.EFECT, Denmark based designer
Last but not least British brand Wondaland!!!
Look out for Olivia Pinnock’s review of the full event at http://www.tellusfashion.com
Hey, my fashion junkies are you ready for another weeks update on the world of fashion. Well here goes.
If the fashion rumour mill last week should be believed, John Galliano next gig could be designing for Topshop. According to Vogue UK reports that Sir Philip Green and Galliano, where in early stages of the discussion while attended their mutual friend Kate Moss’s wedding. Unfortunately Sir Philip Green himself has now commented: “I saw John Galliano at Kate’s wedding last Friday. I did not discuss any business with him then, nor have I since.”
Well that sure stops that rumour. Now on to the next!!!
Rihanna the new face of Emporio Armani Underwear!
Rihanna takes over as the new face of Emporio Armani Underwear replacing Megan Fox, who replaced Victoria Beckham as the face of Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans in October 2009. Graciously though Megan is now stepping down to make way for new Armani face Rihanna, who was spotted meeting with Roberta Armani in Milan in May.
Apparently her first campaign for the brand has already been shot on location in New York and is set to launch worldwide in September.
Model of the moment: Raquel Zimmerman
Love, love, love Raquel Zimmerman and this Fall she seems to have taken over all the campaigns. Doing Lanvin’s Fall 2011 ad campaign with Karen Elson with images shot by Steven Meisel, sporting floppy hats and capes. [Models.com Facebook]
Alexander Wang’s second ad,Gritty Fall 2011 Campaign, where Fabien Baron shot Zimmermann in an abandoned grain factory from the ’20s in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
Karl Templer, was at the shoot and talks about Wangs direction for the scene as “something really gritty and raw to contrast with the polished richness of what we showed on fall runway.”
The accompanying campaign video, set to a soundtrack of SebastiAn’s “CTFO” featuring MIA, was projected at several locations around Manhattan (Houston and McDougal, 14th and University, 14th Street and 8th Avenue) on Wednesday through to Friday this week.
For those of us not in New York this week here’s the full video.
Oooh I bet you thought I forgot Berlin fashion week will put that up next been really busy this week, work and getting sick. I’m going through my pictures and video’s right now so shouldn’t be long. :0) !!!

First things first, I cannot believe this is happening to me! The last few months have been nothing less than amazing, a rollercoaster ride and begging God daily – we cannot stop this ride now, please.
Lets get to a better introduction, my name is Tosin (toes-in), I am youngish years old, and a budding International fashion designer and label owner. I guess the fact I have a business makes me a business woman too? Nothing sounds sexier than that; Entrepreneur, nice.
I don’t have the same background as most fashion designers because I spent a long time using the left side of my brain doing non creative stuff like completing A’ levels in Physics, Maths and Computing Studies, followed by a degree in Information Engineering and Technology Management then 10 years working with blue chip companies gaining experience in IT, Management Information and Marketing as well as accumulating several certificates to help me perform my job better. So you see what I mean when I say ‘I’m not your usual fashion designer’? So how did I end up where I am today?
Well, earlier this year I lost my job in the city, I was very ill and for the first time since I was 17 years old, I had time to think of what I would really LOVE to do next. When you’ve had a job since you were legally allowed to, and suddenly lose your job (which I later found out was very central to me), there is an initial feeling of shock and despair (well there was for me), add denial too. I wanted to go find a new role immediately but I couldn’t. Whilst I got myself better, I had a light bulb moment of styling my own work wear, usually these thoughts come and disappear as soon as they arrive because my busy life wouldn’t have allowed it; I was always rushing from one thing to the other. In my previous job, commuting to London meant very long days, so having time to think outside of my job, role as a wife and Sunday school teacher was a luxury!
Back to my light bulb moment, well I had more time on my hands so I began to enquire about tailors I could work with to design my outfits. Soon enough I wondered to myself why I couldn’t make these clothes and sell them. I had a niche idea (which I will tell you more about later) and was certain there would be many people who would want to buy these outfits. That was it, I started drawing and loved my drawings even as amateurish as they looked. I prayed about it and trusted God to make things work alright.
I slept on the idea for a few more months but was lucky to speak to a fashion designer friend of a friend – that was fantastic! She suggested I attend a short course at one of London’s art colleges and contact my local college re: Sewing or garment construction. This was the best advice ever and if you’re like me, coming into the Fashion Industry with little knowledge of it and would like to pursue a fashion designing career, I would really advocate this route. Sewing courses can be really cheap or even free at your local college so unless you want to major as a seamstress, the most important knowledge worth paying for is how the industry works; releasing collections, understanding the customer, trend research, the fashion calendar and important people who make the industry tick just to mention a few.
If you are young or not in a hurry to run your business as I was, then go ahead and get a degree from a University; find one that is very respected worldwide and whose students have gone on to successful careers. In London, I can suggest London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins College of arts; they are both renowned colleges worldwide. Do your research, competition will be high for entry places – good luck!
So there we go, a little introduction about me. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading? Don’t hesitate to leave a comment, it would be nice to know your thoughts, did you find any of the information useful? Or maybe you have questions, let me know.
I will be back in a few days, until then I will leave you with this thought:
You only have one life, live it to its fullest. It sounds corny but it is true. Follow your passion and when you do, you’ll never have to work again because everyday will be like enjoying your hobby!
Catch you later!
