Fierceness

Bernard Chandran really knows the definition of fierce. His AW11 collection would make any woman empowered, confident and glamorous. In the new BFC space on Northumberland Avenue, Malaysian-born designer brought bold and confident pop colours, feathers and directional peplums. Hues of scarlet red, bright orange and fuchsia were shown on miniskirts in luxe fabrics and textures dramatizing the catwalk. Lace-up ankle boots designed by Guiseppe Zanotti colour coordinated the outfit completing the full on, in-your-face colour blocking.

Love the carpet/shrug she’s caring behind her. Fierce.

A plethora of fabrics were used including lace, leather, silk, jersey and velvet reinventing evening wear and creating texturised paneling. Silhouettes were nipped at the waist and structured with black patent leather petal-shaped overhangs that were more avant-garde then red carpet. Feathers floated down in shades of fuchsia and deep black as front rowers glared at each other in awe. My favourite piece was the all-in-one, jumpsuit covered in delicate black feathers and jewels highlighting Bernards Asian tradition and instinctive attention to detail.

With rumours that he’ll be moving to thr main schedule next season and celebrities like Mr Hudson, Diana Vickers and Keisha Buchanan seated front row, Chandran is undoubtedly one to follow.
